    Sound Check

    By Russ | May 11, 2009

In this small vignette, I interview Scott Peterson, the person who answered my Craigslist ad when I was selling my Zoom H2 Recorder. Turns out, that we already knew each other…sort of. It’s a small small world.

A little rough on the audio and the editing, but taking Ira’s advice, I just have to DO a ton of these before I get it down. It’s nice to practice while we’re still here in Long Beach so when we’re on the road I’ll have my workflow down.

Here’s another video I did last night as well for EpicureanCyclist. Katy is an acquaintance and we have similar tastes in bikes. She may also be buying a pair of Ostrich panniers from me.

      Russ,

Great format and direction you are going. I love the short vignettes. Stills with sound are much more appealing, to me at least, than ‘in your face’ video.

I notice you’ve moved from youtube to vimeo. Is there a particular reason? The quality is very good.

      Great job, Jack

Jack - thanks! I’m still trying to get the hang of the audio and how to ask good questions. Really different from just being a “fly on the wall” while photographing…

I’m going with Vimeo. I really dislike Youtube. Too much compression, you can’t design a custom player and the whole thing is cluttered and ugly…

If Youtube were a social media site it would be MySpace to Vimeo’s Facebook :)
