Gear we use that we really REALLY like. Purchase it from the link and help support us!

    Trangia Stove
Our favorite stove. We've been using it for over a year and love it - small, reliable, indestructable.
    JustMobile External Battery
Our secret middle-of-nowhere electronics-charging device. It can keep the iPhone charged for a couple days.
    Shimano 12-36 Cassette
Excellent cassette for fully-loaded touring. The lowest possible gears currently on the market! (We use on our 26" and 700c LHTs.)

    Nashville Presentation

    Sunday, June 27th, 2010

We’re still recovering from yesterdays whirlwind of events (presentation at Nashville Bicycle Lounge, riding through a crazy storm, encountering a tipped over cow on the greenway, pajama jammy jam, etc.,). Laura and I talked about the presentation as we rode to our homestay and were thoroughly impressed with the crowd that showed up. [...]

    Snaps from Nashville

    Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Just a quickie post to let ya’ll know we are still in Nashville and are enjoying a little break from the road. We’ve been diving into the local bike culture in Nashville and are thoroughly enjoying ourselves, crabby drivers notwithstanding. Some snaps from the last few days…

The inside of one of Nashville’s new [...]

    We are in Nashville!

    Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We ran into a blog reader at Halcyon (hey Kim!) yesterday and it dawned on us that we should mention we are in Nashville - NOW! We’re planning to take the next two weeks off to rest (and hopefully celebrate Laura’s birthday in town where there is ready access to good beer and food) and [...]

Our Natchez Trace Adventure: Jackson, MS to Nashville, TN

    Tuesday, June 15th, 2010

The Natchez Trace has a great history. A one-time Native American foot-path that became a travelers highway and mail route as the US expanded westward, the Natchez Trace eventually fell into disuse with the evolution of river steamboats until it wound up in the hands of the National Park Service and became the parkway [...]

We’re on the move! Keep up with us on Facebook too!

    Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Traveling and keeping our site updated has been a challenge the last few weeks. Louisiana, Mississippi and the Natchez Trace in particular isn’t exactly “wired.” So if you want to keep up, join our Facebook page. Russ has an iPhone and is a chronic status updater (but with fun updates and photos!). [...]

    A Bike (Fly) Fishing Primer

    Tuesday, June 8th, 2010

Let me just preface this by saying that I am by no means a salty haired veteran angler. I read Hemmingway’s “Old Man and the Sea” and saw more religious imagery than fishing tips. However, I have been doing a fair amount of fishing the last few months and have been experimenting with [...]

    Jackson, Mississippi

    Monday, June 7th, 2010

After Vicksburg, we made our way to Jackson, the state capitol of Mississippi. We took a long and roundabout way into Jackson, by way of Clinton (where we met some local college kids) and a suburb called Pearl (had to stop by the BassPro to pick up more flies!). While at the BassPro, [...]

    Review: Click-Stand folding bike stand!

    Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

One of the problems while touring is what to do exactly with your fully loaded bike with XXXlbs of gear when you need a short break on the side of the road. One could always “tip the cow”, so to speak, and gently let her down on one side. But sometimes, for example [...]
