• Pure class. Hope to one day cycle such beautiful routes too.

    Thank you 🙂

    Nice job Russ and Laura.

But one thing is missing: how was the fishing? 🙂

That photo that heads up the Travel Oregon piece had a very “trouty” looking stream along the road.

  • @Roger…only got to fish one day if you can believe it. Saw trout rising but no luck. Will have to go there with just rod and leave the cameras at home 🙂

Really an interesting idea: to mark up lightly traveled roads into a formal, named route and get some publicity push behind it.

Rail trails have revived a lot of little towns in “untouristed” areas. Perhaps this strategy could accomplish the same thing.

Excellent production values on the video by the way. Great results with such modest equipment.

  • Lovely! We recently discovered and really enjoyed your blogs and videos about New Zealand. Are you planning any more trips abroad? Would you go with folding bikes again?

I’m setting here watching this lovely video and daydreaming whilst freezing rain and snow showers are falling outside. What a nice diversion from a dreary day! Thanks.

  • That’s a beautiful video! You both continue to inspire. And Russ, in spite of your technical challenges, you made a great product that truly showcases Eastern Oregon.

Just got back from an 8-day trip that covered part of the Old West Scenic Bikeway. It was way more wonderful than the video conveys… the scenery, the people, everything was fantastic. We met Philip in Monument. Great guy and he was excited to tell us he met you and was in the video. Anyway, thanks for the inspiration.

Forgive me if this is elsewhere on your blog (I’m just getting started), but would you be willing to share the make/models of the video and still cameras you used? Did you shoot video on a DSLR also? I’m toying around with moving from a dedicated video camera to a DSLR (or high quality mirrorless) plus an outboard mic. Would love you thoughts.
